TOCA FC was founded in 2011 when a group of coaches came together with a shared conviction: youth soccer could be better. It could be better for players, better for families, and better for the communities around it. In the beginning, we didn’t have access to world-class facilities, big-name coaches, or national platforms. What we did have were three guiding values: FAITH. FAMILY. FÚTBOL. Those values became our north star, shaping how we coached, how we built relationships, and why we existed as a club. The name Toca, comes from the Spanish word meaning “touch” or “pass”. We chose this name to connect with the idea of playing a fast paced, purpose-driven possession style of soccer. Second, we wanted a name that spoke to the idea of building meaningful connections with families and making a lasting impact on people’s lives.  

KC Fusion was founded  in 2008 when a group of volunteer soccer administrators and coaches brought forward the idea of bringing together the robust recreational program of Shawnee Soccer Club (est. 1973) and the competitive offering of Southwest United (est. 1978). The goal was to create a stronger organization, Metro United Soccer Club, that could offer players and their families a total soccer experience from a child’s first touch of a soccer ball all the way up to the academy level. The name KC Fusion comes from the desire to unite the two original clubs into something stronger and more capable of delivering for players and parents than either club could do alone. It didn’t take long for the idea to take hold, and over the ensuing years KC Fusion has created a thriving community filled with recreational and competitive soccer players, coaches, admins and their families. This is our #fusionfamily.

The story of TOCA FC and KC Fusion coming together began with leaders from both clubs sitting down to talk honestly about the current landscape of youth soccer. What’s working? What isn’t? What matters most? And most importantly, how could we – together – make things better?

Through many conversations about how things are, but more importantly, how things could be, we discovered both of our clubs had different strengths, but were highly aligned and pursuing the same mission. The partnership became the natural next step. Together, we believed we could create a values-based youth soccer club that could support kids at every level. Together we are stronger. Together we are better. Together, we are Toca Fusion Athletic Club.
